Hay-on-Wye, often called the 'Town of Books' is a beautiful village located on the River Wye, straddling the English-Welsh border. It is situated in Powys, just off the A438, between Hereford and Brecon. By CarHay can be easily reached by car from the south and east. Take the motorway (M4) and dual carriageway to Abergavenny and Hay is another half hour's drive. The turning to Hay is in the village of Clyro. As you come over the bridge into Hay, turn left at the T junction and the globe at hay is fifty yards on your right (on the corner of Newport St and Heol-y-dwr). Parking Parking is available close by within a few hundred yards. Cross the bridge towards Clyro and look for our sign on the left hand side. By TrainShould you prefer to travel by train, the nearest station is Hereford (22 miles from Hay). Trains depart from London Paddington and take approximately 3 hours, whether you travel via Newport, Gwent, or direct via the Malverns. Hereford is also served by regular trains from South Wales, Manchester, and Birmingham. There is a regular bus service connecting Hereford to Hay-on-Wye.  |
